As of January 1st, 2015, the Supplemental Education Grant (SEG) increased from $250 to $350 per calendar year, and it is now open to all degree levels.
2014 Expenses: Any students who were in graduate programs in 2014 may now apply for the SEG grant, so long as their book receipts are within 12 months of applying for the SEG. All amounts issued will count towards the client's 2015 allowance, regardless of which year it was incurred. The same applies to students who applied for SEG in 2014 but still have remaining receipts within the past 12 months that can be applied to 2015.
Qualified students include: All clients in good standing with CGMA may apply for SEG, which includes Coast Guard Active Duty, Civilian Employee, Reservists, Retirees, and Auxiliarists. All other rules pertaining to the SEG remain unchanged. Qualified students include eligible CGMA clients and their dependents.
Two Client Families: In a family where there are two eligible CGMA clients, grants of up to $350 may be provided to each CGMA client, with a maximum of $350 issued on behalf of each student.
Expenses that are not eligible include tuition, food, parking, childcare, cost of tests or exams, and general purpose software and computers (i.e. Microsoft office, Windows software, laptops, or PCs)
